Gemstone amfora vase, crystal Nienke Sikkema for HKLIVING

The Amfora vase challenges the idea of what a classic glass form should be. Sculpted at a generous scale, its silhouette is interrupted by expressive handles built from faceted, gem-like elements — functional, but deliberately exaggerated. The result is a piece that plays with balance and expectation, reflecting both Nienke Sikkema’s intuitive approach to glass and our shared appetite for bold, character-led design. More object than ornament, it invites light, touch and curiosity in equal measure. 

Working with glass artist Nienke Sikkema felt less like a collaboration and more like stepping into another universe. Her world is one of molten timing, controlled chaos, and shapes that behave like carved light. Together we created a family of glass objects that feel like contemporary gemstones — heavy, luminous, and a little unruly.
